Book Description:
The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Nights in Rodanthe explores a darker realm of the heart in an explosive and emotional tale of love and obsession. At 29, Julie Barenson is too young to give up on love. Four years after her husband's tragic death, she is finally ready to risk giving her heart to someone again. But to whom? Should it be Richard Franklin, who is handsome and sophisticated and treats her like a queen, or Mike Harris, who is Julie's best friend in the world, though not as debonair? Now, with a decision that should bring her more happiness than she's had in years, Julie's life is about to become a living nightmare, as one man's jealousy spins into a deadly obsession.

Nicholas Sparks' books are timeless. I love each and every one. However, I would have to say this one is one of my favorites. This novel is about a widow, who receives a Great Dane puppy from her late husband to watch over her. It is an incredible small town story that will leave you in tears at the end. If you only buy one Nicholas Sparks novel, buy this one!

I really liked this Nicholas Sparks book! I'm not usually a fan of his because I typically don't go for the sappy romance novels, but this one had some suspense and thrill thrown in! It wasn't like the other books that I've read of his, very different. Much better in my opinion!

This was my first Nicholas Sparks book. I had seen a couple of his movies and loved them so I decided to order a couple of his books here on PBS. This wasn't a disappointment! A must read for Sparks fan & just romance/suspense fans in general. Although the ending was rather expected, the twists in it were thrilling & fun. Definitely recommended.

This isn't the best book I've read by Nicholas Sparks. I still enjoyed it but it was a little bit predictable. I like how he incorporates some suspense into the book unlike his other books.

This is definitely one of my favorite Nicholas Sparks books. It was his first book to write as a romance suspense and while it's no J.D. Robb book it is definitely an AMAZING read!

This book was different from the typical Nicholas Sparks stories. It still had his charming romance though. :) If you like Nicholas Sparks you wont be disapointed.

This was the first book I ever read of Nicholas Spark's. All I can say is that I'm hooked. He's an excellent author and this is still one of my favorite books by him and over all. It's a must read and starting with page one you will find tears in your eyes.

Possibly my favorite NS work! Crossing my fingers that this becomes the next movie made from his collection. Triumphant story of a girl rebounding from a great loss. If you liked P.S. I love you, you may like this one too.

From the Author's Note: "From first to final draft, the novel went through eight major revisions until my editor and I were finally satisfied that the novel accomplished what it set out to do; that is, be a love story first and foremost, and secondly-in a way that sneaks up on the reader-a compelling thriller.
