Book Description:
The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Nights in Rodanthe explores a darker realm of the heart in an explosive and emotional tale of love and obsession. At 29, Julie Barenson is too young to give up on love. Four years after her husband's tragic death, she is finally ready to risk giving her heart to someone again. But to whom? Should it be Richard Franklin, who is handsome and sophisticated and treats her like a queen, or Mike Harris, who is Julie's best friend in the world, though not as debonair? Now, with a decision that should bring her more happiness than she's had in years, Julie's life is about to become a living nightmare, as one man's jealousy spins into a deadly obsession.

Nicholas Sparks' books are timeless. I love each and every one. However, I would have to say this one is one of my favorites. This novel is about a widow, who receives a Great Dane puppy from her late husband to watch over her. It is an incredible small town story that will leave you in tears at the end. If you only buy one Nicholas Sparks novel, buy this one!

This book was different from the typical Nicholas Sparks stories. It still had his charming romance though. :) If you like Nicholas Sparks you wont be disapointed.

This was the first book I ever read of Nicholas Spark's. All I can say is that I'm hooked. He's an excellent author and this is still one of my favorite books by him and over all. It's a must read and starting with page one you will find tears in your eyes.

From the Author's Note: "From first to final draft, the novel went through eight major revisions until my editor and I were finally satisfied that the novel accomplished what it set out to do; that is, be a love story first and foremost, and secondly-in a way that sneaks up on the reader-a compelling thriller.

Love story or thriller? A combination of both this Sparks novel is sure to please his regular readers as well as a broader audience. If you have ever enjoyed books Mary Higgins Clark and have yet to read Nicholas Sparks this is the book to try! Julie, a young widow, re-enters the dating scene only to find a few surprises wanting for her. Who is this Guardian and why is it so important that she has one?

FROM FRONT FLAP:

Julie Barenson's young husband left her two unexpected gifts before he died--a puppy named Singer and the promise that he would always be watching over her. Now, four years later, twenty-nine-year-old Julie is far too young to have given up on love. She may be ready to risk caring for someone again. But who?

Should it be Richard Franklin, the sophisticated, handsome engineer who treats her like a queen? Or Mike Harris, the down-to-earth nice guy who was her husband's best friend? Choosing one of them should bring her more happiness than she's had in years. Instead, Julie is soon fighting for her life in a nightmare spawned by a chilling deception and jealousy so poisonous that it has become a murderous desire...

The Guardian is both a love story and a thriller but the love story definately shines through!
