Nobody was poisoned at the dinner for the Society of Olive Oil Producers of Baetica, though in retrospect this was quite a surpriseĀ
Inimitable detective Marcus Didius Falco is back with a vengeance. Muggings, occur, a man is killed and Rome's answer to Phillip Marlowe is plunged into the fiercely competitive world of olive oil-production. Political intrigue, an exotic Spanish dancer and impending fatherhood, all add to Falco's troubles.
Eighth in Davis' award-winning and acclaimed Falco novels.
Another enjoyable chapter in the Marcu Didius Falco series. Silly but entertaining, these are fun for the mystery fan but will frustrate the reader who demands total accuracy in their historical mysteries. Her period details are correct but her characters are straight out of a modern hardboiled detective novel. This is the seventh book in the series.
