Book Description:
With his breakout New York Times bestseller, The Tenth Justice, Brad Meltzer asked us to consider a brutal question: How much can you really trust your friends? Now he pits husband against wife in a legal thriller with the most chilling ultimatum of all: Betray the person you love the most or risk losing them forever.

Sara Tate, a Manhattan assistant D.A., is about to lose her job. But the case she nabs to secure her professional future is far more complicated, and deadly, than it first appears. While forces within the D.A.'s office conspire against her, an outside threat looms larger: win the case or her attorney husband, Jared, will die. But Jared has been threatened as well. Strong-armed into defending the opposition, he learns that Sara will be killed should he lose the case. In court and at home, husband and wife go head-to-head while harboring the terrible secret of their motives. In a battle of rollercoaster emotions and shocking betrayals, Jared and Sara must face the unthinkable truth: No matter who wins, one of them will die.

Move over, John Grisham! Brad Meltzer is my new favorite! I loved what the Chicago Tribune had to say about it: "A gem of a plot ... so strong ... breezes along in high gear. Highly recommended!" I couldn't have said it better!

I loved the premise of the book...husband and wife pitted against each other racing against time, each with a desperate secret. A book filled with great suspense, wonderful witty dialogue, great character development, and enough suspense to keep you turning the pages long after your bedtime. Enjoy!

Brad Meltzer has a writing style similar to John Grisham. Although not a literary genius, he can craft a good story with alot of intrique, suspense and some simplistic action scenes. This book is one of his better works because it really tackles the tension of a married couple forced to take different sides on a high profile court case.

I really enjoyed this one. A prosecuting attorney has a case, and her husband, a defense attorney gets hired as defense. Because of threats they are both doomed to stay on the case. Interesting plot twists, etc.

A fun, quick read. Brad Meltzer compares to Dan Brown or John Grisham in pacing and intrigue. Enjoy.

This legal thriller asks the question..."How much can you really trust your friends?" It pits husband vs. wife...prosecution vs. defense. An excellent read!!

In my opinion, one of the best mystery writers right now. In his New York Times best seller The tenth Justice, Meltzer asked the question: How much can you really trust your friends? Now he ups the tension, and the ante, in a legal thriller that poses the most chilling dilemma of all....

This was a very good book! 529 pages. Sara Tate, Manhattan D.A., and her defense attorney husband, Jared, both are working on the same case...
Sara doesn't know that her husband has been told to get his client off,
or SHE will be killed! The couple begin a vicious battle in court, and one at home also where desperate motives are hidden. Sara, too, has a terrible secret... no matter who wins, the other may die! I give this 4 stars!
