Book Description:
Brad Denning is a successful architect living a perfect life in Denver with his loving wife and son. Or so it would be, if not for the haunting memory of his brother Petey who disappeared while under Brad's supervision when they were kids. Now, a man claiming to be his sibling has mysteriously appeared and Brad is eager to take him in, despite the man's haggard appearance and reluctance to reveal anything about his past. "Petey" is a welcome addition to the family, until a camping trip goes terribly wrong and Brad returns home to find that his devoted wife and son have been abducted. Certain that Petey-or whoever he may be- is responsible for the horrible crime, Brad sets out to recover his family. Travelling alone through America's heartland, it's a race against time as Brad struggles to get to his family before the terrible secret of what really happened long ago destroys everything he cares about.

Did you feel responsible when your 9 yr old kid brother is kidnapped? Wasn't it you that sent him home alone because you didn't want him to hang with you and your friends? No body was ever found...no ransom note ever received...a life never lived. 30 yrs later, your happily married, have a son of your own. But at long last, the Long Lost brother returns...but when he leaves, he doesn't leave alone.

For years, Brad Denning wondered whether his younger brother was dead or alive. He wondered who took him, or if Petey had simply run away. Now, on a Denver street, Brad is jolted by a man calling out his name. A man claiming to be his long lost brother.

Brad Denning's brother disappeared when he was thirteen years old.Brad eventually becomes a famous architect when his brother Petey suddenly shows up. They have a happy family reunion which Brad even offers Petey a new lease on life by offering him a job,a place to stay...etc. But the glow of happiness is short lived when on an outing, Petey pushes Brad over a gorge, leaves Brad for dead and kidnaps Brad's family. Brad recovers and decides if he were to get his family back,he would have to think and act like his brother.
Suspenseful and gripping which are all on Morrell's books.

Morrell is a master suspense writer. He weaves such an intriguing story with great detail and makes you feel as tho you are there. This book has a very different and interesting plot that kept me second-guessing myself all throughout the book.
