Book Description:
The long hot Louisiana summer just got hotter for Rene LeDeux. He's burned out by D.C. politics and only wants to build his cabin in peace. But if his wacky, matchmaking great-aunt has her way, Bayou Black's prodigal son will be hitched before he can say butt-naked! That honor goes to Valerie "Ice" Breaux, Rene's high school nemesis turned Trial TV anchor, who's been abducted by Rene's activist friends. Mon Dieu! It's bad enough being kidnapped and having her power suit ride up her thighs. Did she have to land in the lap of the most irritating, sexiest hunk she's ever laid her eyes on? Now Val's stranded in Rene's remote cabin, besieged by irrepressible LeDeux relations, not to mention a dingbat duo out to save the swamp. It's a heat wave, guar-an-teed! Val vows she'll give her heart to the Cajun bad boy when alligators fly. Rene swears to get the girl who got away. It's never been steamier in the bayou than with two people this red-hot with desire... and more than ready for love.

The story plot was good, I just couldn't get into it because of her writing style. She had her heroes talking in ways that men don't really talk...

Rene is trying to get away from it all, but ends up stranded in remote country with his former high school nemisis and current TV anchor, Val.

I have already read one other "Cajun" book of Sandra Hill's. Being from Louisiana, it made me homesick for the characters, food and music. This book was a little hotter than the other book I read but not enough to be embarrassing to me.

Good story! Eery foresight- author shows how Katrina wreaked such havoc. Author set a big sexy stsory in the wetlands of Louisiana, where the delicate eco balance has been destroyed due to the big buck interests. Quirky southern characters, lots of spice and sass! Modern version of hot hot Cajun male and equally hot Creole female lead. This book is funny and smart, with sizzle.

I loved this one. Got a soft spot in my heart for Cajun men ever since my 7th grade science teacher - but I digress. Rene LeDeux, hotshot D.C. lawyer, gets tired of the beltway & comes back home to fix up his "cabin" in the swamps. High school nemesis Val (Ice) Breaux, Trial TV anchor, is kidnapped & plunked down in the cabin with him... environmental baddies after them both...& the heat between these two is "hotter than a pepper sprout."

all Rene LeDeux wants is a little peace in the sanctuary of Louisiana's Bayou Black after his stint as an environmental lobbyist in Washington, D.C., losing battle after battle to big businesses and interest groups who couldn't care less about the planet. But instead he must fight an even bigger battle: his tree-hugging activist friends have kidnapped Trial TV celebrity Valerie "Ice" Breaux and brought her to Bayou Black to get media attention for their cause. To make matters worse, Rene, a Cajun, and Valerie, a Creole, share an antagonistic past. Hill has put more of everything in this book--more hot sex, a more serious subtext (both Rene and Valerie were abused as children), and a lot more information on bayou ecology and the effects of a changing environment--adding up to a brimming romance for people who like to laugh, people who like to cry, and people who are concerned with the current status of the earth.
