Book Description:

When Dr. Rennie Newton is summoned to jury duty, she brings to the courtroom the same level of competence that she displays in the operating room. Her commitment to precision compels her to deliver a not guilty verdict in the murder case against notorious contract killer Ricky Lozada.

It will be the most regrettable decision in her life...because Rennie's trial with Lozada doesn't end with his acquittal.

Her carefully structured life begins to crumble when a rival colleague is brutally slain. Lozada's menacing shadow looms over the murder, but it's Rennie the investigators focus on as a prime suspect. The privacy she has cultivated and protected at all costs is violated by the police as well as Lozada. And when he begins an earnest courtship, it becomes terrifyingly clear that he is obsessed with having her.

Wick Threadgill is a detective on indefinite leave from the Fort Worth PD, who has his own, personal agenda for the contract killer. Temperamental, bitter, and driven by loyalty and love, Wick is determined to destroy Lozada.

In order to defeat Lozada -- and save their lives -- Rennie and Wick form an uneasy alliance. Mistrustful of each other, they know only one thing with absolute certainty, when this killer strikes, they won't see it coming.

The Crush will take you on a tortuous path through a twisted sociopath's eerie obsession, a haunted man fragile hopes for redemption, and a woman's heart as she struggles to face the greatest fear -- to open herself to love.

Sandra Brown does it again! Enticed me into 470 pages of carefully constructed characters dealing with a nicely nutso sociopathic villain. Characters were interesting and engaging, well defined and mysterious enough. A secret here and there that I couldn't quite guess. Yummy suspence and hot attraction.

OOOHHH, this one grabbed me. Though a fairly predictable plot (what is there left that is original?), the story kept my interest and I buzzed right through this one.

This is a bit of a spooky story about a woman on a jury for a contract killer, who once they find him 'not guilty' finds that he has become her new admirer. Don't read alone at night!

"Sandra Brown is an author I read for escapism. She writes love stories and lately has action-packed storylines to go with her love stories and she makes them work.
I could almost envision Wick...very wicked yet sexy character who has flaws but has morals and wants the girl.
The sexy yet controlled surgeon who gets to be a heroine and needs a little rescuing herself.
The villian whom they must outsmart was generically drawn but he is not the main character of the love story so that is forgiven.
Decent ending that I did not see coming that tied everything together.
I will always purchase Sandra Brown's novels because she never disappoints." amazon review

Edge of your seat thriller. A contract killer is on trial and Dr. Rennie Newton is on jury and delivers a verdict of not guilty....and discovers she has a new admirer. Then one of her rivals is brutally murdered and the killer, Lazada's shadow looms over the case but Rennie becomes the prime suspect, while Lazada stalks her and grows more obsessed with having her. Lots of twists and turns in this thriller.

A good book. It seemed that it took forever for the hero and heroine to get together. But the premise of the story and how it's played out is very good.
