Narcotics officer Cal Moore's orders were to look into the city's latest drug killing. Instead, he ends up in a motel room with his head in several pieces and a suicide note stuffed in his back pocket.
Years ago, Harry Bosch learned the first rule of the good cop: don't look for the facts, but the glue that holds them together. Now, Harry's making some very dangerous connections, starting with one dead cop and leading to a bloody string of murders that winds from Hollywood Boulevard's drug bazaar to the dusty back alleys south of the border and into the center of a complex and lethal game -- one in which Harry is the next and likeliest victim.

Connelly never disappoints. His Harry Bosch books carry the least amount of 'repeat material' of any I've read, each one is fresh and markedly different from the one before with plot twists and characters so alive you want to punch some and hug others. This tale gets far afield from the usual L.A. scene as the mystery behind an apparent suicide of a fellow cop is probed by Harry. Don't tell anyone you have it figured out until you've read the last chapter or you'll make a fool of yourself!

Love, love, love nearly anything he writes. I was even intrigued enough to check out the artist Bosch's paintings and some of his history. Connelly's Harry Bosch is a very flawed character, and I love him. This is a good one.

Second in the Harry Bosch series with Connelly's usual fast moving pace and twists and turns. Bit of a surprize at the end.

This story was an intense mystery with lots of suspense. I liked the way Harry followed his instincts even when it meant possibly losing his job.

A Harry Bosch novel. Always great books, this is one of the better ones. Does Harry get to solve this one?

Second book in the Harry Bosch series. Another great mystery by Connelly...a fellow LAPD apparently commits suicide, but Bosch isn't so sure. He is then drawn into solving the mystery surrounding his death. Great fast paced read!
