Book Description:
Former FBI agent Terry McCaleb is asked by an old LAPD pal to help on a baffling murder case, the ritualistic details of which suggest a serial killer. It doesn't take him long to focus in on a prime suspect: LAPD detective Harry Bosch. Not only did Bosch carry a grudge against the dead man, a murderer who narrowly escaped prison six years before, but also clues at the death scene implicate the detective. While McCaleb investigates, Bosch is busy with his own case, helping prosecutors convict David Storey, a well-known Hollywood director accused of strangling a starlet. McCaleb eventually begins to wonder if the two cases are connected. Did Bosch cross over to the dark side or is he being framed?

WOW!!! This was a page turner to the end. Retired Profiler McCaleb is called upon to help with a case. Unfortunately, his profile leads to an old crony, Det Bosch, who is currently testifying in a big, Hollywood murder case. The twists and turns this book takes had me up all night--even after I peeked to see 'whodunit'. One of Connelly's best, in my opinion!!!

I recommend reading both Bloodwork and The Last Coyote before reading A Darkness More Than Night; Not so much for plot lines but for an introduction to Terry McCaleb and Harry Bosch.

For those reading the Connelly series, this is a neat read as you get to see Bosch and McCaleb collide.

As a standalone book, it's a good plot with a few twists and a bit of action. But you miss what makes this book fun if you haven't gotten to know the characters previously.

Harry Bosch mystery. This time Harry is accused of being the serial killer himself!

I love Michael Connelly, and this book was no disappointment. Combining Terry McCaleb and Harry Bosch in this book made it even better.

Happily married (to the woman whose sister provided his new heart--see Bloodwork) former FBI profiler Terry McCaleb is brought into a case 'just to have a look' by his old friend Jaye Winston of the Sheriff's office. Of course he can't (in spite of Graciela's protests)just stop there...especially when he determines the prime suspect is another old friend, Harry Bosch! All this and that annoying (but loveable) Buddy Lockridge. Fun read.

You can't miss with Michael Connely. His books are always tightly written, nicely plotted, with good characters. I am easily annoyed by mediocre writing, so when I can't take another mediocre book, I know I can depend on a Connelly novel.

Great Harry Bosch story even though the central character at the beginning is Terry McCabe, a former FBI profiler. McCabe has retired but is asked by L.A. County Sheriff's department to look a murder that all the signs of a serial killer. It looks to McCabe that the profile points to Harry!

It was a case some cops could live with: the torture killing of a man who spread horrors of his own. Yet one investigator believes the unknown assailant will strike again, and she persuades former criminal profiler Terry McCaleb to leave his quiet life to help her out. In a horrific morass of crime scene details, McCaleb deciphers a message and finds a suspect" a Los Angeles detective named Harry Bosch who has spent too many years looking at too much darkness. But while Bosch mnay have had a good reason to murder a man in a West Hollywood apartment, he has an even better one for staying alive-- and for finding a suspect of his own.

I have enjoyed all of the Harry Bosch novels and it was a little disconcerting to me that he was seriously being investigated for a murder by a criminal profiler, Terry McCaleb. This book was seen through the eyes of McCaleb, who had worked with Harry years earlier and even though he did not want to believe that Harry was guilty, all of the evidence pointed straight to him.

Michael Connelly is a New York Times best selling author with his books "Angels Flight" and "Void Moon."

An investigater is hot on the trail of an unknown torture-killing murderer, and inlists the help of a former criminal profiler because she believes the killer will strike again.

There are many plot twists and suprises in this one. I couldn't wait to curl up to it each evening....really gives you goose bumps!

"The more you read, the more maze-like become Connelly's coils of complication. The more shadowy the mysteries that lurk around McCaleb and Bosch" - Los Angeles Times Book Review

Exceptional Connelly. He's a cut above the usual mystery/thriller writer, and this one won't disappoint!

Book Seven in the Harry Bosch Series. Cross-over with Terry McCaleb from Blood Work. (The book is more fun to read if you've read Blood Work first -- good character continuity.)
