Book Description:
Everyone seems to be getting on with their lives--except Maggie. At 27, she's still working at the local coffee house, while her friends are getting married, having babies, and building careers. Even Olivia, Maggie's best friend from childhood, is getting married to her doctor boyfriend. Maggie, on the other hand, lives with her dog Solo, and has no romantic prospects, save for the torch she carries for Domenic, the busboy. Though Maggie and Olivia have been best friends since their "fattie" grade school years, Olivia's since gone the gastric-bypass surgery route, in hopes of obtaining the elusive size two, the holy grail for fat girls everywhere. So now Olivia's thin, blonde, and betrothed, and Maggie's the fat bridesmaid. Ain't life grand? In this inspiring debut novel, Maggie speaks to women everywhere who wish for just once that they could forget about their weight.

I do not normally read "Chick Lit." but I figured that I would give this a try. Although many people enjoyed the book, I have to admit that I cannot argee with those who do. Maybe this is just not my genre. Of course it is always good to try new things. Being a "fat girl" myself, I was able to sympathize with the main character's situation. Halfway through the book, though, I was becoming annoyed with her doormat personality and just her in general. Aside from my dislike of the characterization, the story wasn't as well written as it could possibly have been. I understand that this is Palmer's debut, which is further than most of us will ever get. Hopefully she will hone her skills for her next novel.

This was a good book about a woman trying to hold onto her no longer fat childhood friend. It follows her prepartions for the wedding as a maid of honor in her newly ungrateful and shallow friends wedding but also major life changes for the main character as she stops living in the past frame of mind as a fat girl and discovers the woman that she has always been and all that she is capable of regardless of the scale. A good summer chick lit read!

Possibly the funniest book I've ever read! You don't have to be a fat girl to relate to and totally enjoy this book. Highly recommended!!!

Hilarious. Honest. Great, quick, absorbing read. Didn't want to put it down! Very Jennifer Weiner-esque.

Fun, "chicklit" read, but not your typical style. For one thing, it's hilarious. Second, it's not as predictable as others in this genre--there were big surprises. That's all I can say without giving anything away.

I LOVED this book! I have recommended it to my Mom and my friends. I found my self laugh out loud several times while reading this. I read it in 2 days, I just didn't want to put it down. I found that there were many things in the book that I could relate to. Light, touching, funny, an all around WONDERFUL book! This will be one of those that I read several times. Do not miss this book, even if you are not into chick lit, I think that you will have some good laughs and not feel cheated in the end.

This was a great book! Maggie is a push over who gets taken advantage of! She trys to blend in rather then stand out in a crowd. Her best friend use to be overweight until she had surgery so now Maggie is the only one who knows of her best friend's secret past. This book is very fast paced filled with secret loves and revenge.

Interesting read about a woman who finally starts to find herself and stop hiding behind her weight. Nice storyline about family support and friendships.

This was a very quick read for me- under 24 hours! Really funny and relatable! Loved Domenico- this would translate well into a movie!

A great chick lit book with many laugh-out-loud moments. The author made the main character of the book someone you can relate to, especially if you yourself are a plus sized person.

This was a fun, light and easy read. I liked the main character despite her flaws and I was very satisfied with how the story ended. The only thing I did not like about this book was some of the language. The phrases "hey there" and "hey there girl" were used far too many times IMO. Other than that it was a great story and I would recommend it.

This is written very well and fast paced. Its fun and really an enjoyable read with a good lesson. Definitly good chick lit but a bit more sophisticated.

Story of two best friends who were both heavy growing up. One has gastric bypass surgery and becomes thin and the other doesn't. Tells the changes their friendship goes through because of their weight.
