Book Description:
DESCRIPTION: I'm Jacqueline Laurens--Jack to all my friends--and eighteen months ago if you looked at my life on paper you'd think it was fabulous: gorgeous husband Daniel, venture capitalist, eleven years married, two kids, big house. The not so good part? I discovered Daniel's affair at the worst possible time. Now Jack's ex-husband has the second house and the Porsche, while she's got the two kids and a whopping broken heart. Her best friend's antidote: a spontaneous girl's weekend to Hawaii. But when the flu ruins their plans, Jack finds herself facing her 40th birthday in paradise--alone. Then she meets Kai, a sexy, much much-younger surf instructor, who reawakens her fun side. Surprisingly, after their sizzling weekend ends, the calls continue, making everyone back home wonder what Jack's gotten herself into. Now, pulled in all directions, a surprise forces her to reevalute her life, but will she sacrifice her happy new relationship for what other people think is right?

I couldn't stand this book! She jumps into a relationship with a guy for no reason other than he's gorgeous.

She completely ignores her children, who are hellions, even though they're crying out for help.

When she leaves Hawaii to return home to Seattle (and, as a Seattleite myself could she have made this place sound any drearier??), she mopes around until said gorgeous guy shows up on her doorstep FIVE MONTHS LATER without a word.

She never even tells him about the baby she lost.

Nope, if it had been written in a lighter manner making it all seem more like a fling, maybe. But it's written as if this really happened and I couldn't imagine more shallow people. EVER.

This a great summer read for women. I read the excerpts of this book in a women's magazine last summer and couldn't wait to get the whole story. Without going into details, anyone else who read the excerpts will not be disappointed with the conclusion of the book.

I loved this book. A story of a woman just turning forty, getting over a divorce and moving on with her life.

This is the second book of Jane Porter's that I've read & I really enjoy her style of writing. This book deals with Jackie, a recent divorcee & her journey to discovering who she really is. She goes to Hawaii & gets involved with a younger man.

I must say, I read this book in about 3-4 days. Even though I'm not divorced, I could kind of identify with the way she was feeling since I'm the same age.

A great story about learning to put yourself first. I recently met the author at a book signing and she is such a giving person who truly respects her readers. If you haven't read Jane Porter yet you are missing out. The Frog Prince is actually my favorite so far but my friends who have been through divorce are traumatic breakups like this one best.

A divorced Mom, turning forty, falls for the stereo-type beach boy in Hawaii, and tries to live two lives. One for her family and friends, and one for her but when her daughter is hurt, and Mom's not there, she has to give up something. A good story.

Wow, I thought this book was really good. Being as though I am also 40, I could totally understand this characters feelings about being older. As for the character Kai, well in some ways I didn't like him because he seemed to be a little arrogant and didn't put as much feeling into the fling or relationship as Jacqueline did. I highly recommend this book. I read it in just a few days, it was that good!!
