Lauren Lipton's voice is unique, sassy and funny. At times I really wanted to strangle the main character, Iris, for being quite oblivious and naive, but that quality also kept me engaged with the story and flipping the pages with reckless abandon to find out how everything was going to end up. Great read to start the summer with, it will go fast!! I will look for more from this author in the future.

Cute story line, entertaining characters, almost along the lines of the Janet Evanovich, Stephanie Plum series. Sort of an obvious ending for me though.

Iris is in trouble, she's getting divorced, she just lost her job and she's living in New York City, which is not exactly the cheapest city to live in. In a chance meeting she runs into her best friend Val's twin sister Vickie who suspects her husband is cheating on her. Iris, since she's out of work already, agrees to spy on Vickie's husband Steve for a small fee, and then the funny shenanigans begin. In an attempt to find out if he is cheating Iris accidentally bumps into him numerous times, and although each time was meant to be a funny chance meeting they weren't that hilarious where I would laugh out loud. Steve chats Iris up and pretty soon they are friends and then perhaps a little bit more than friends (cue the sexy music). Meanwhile Iris is forming somewhat of a friendship with Vickie who she couldn't initially stand, and realizing that her best friend Val is more selfish than she had thought. Iris begins panicking and doesn't know whether her new relationship with Steve is appropriate since he's already married.

While I didn't think the book was spectacular it still had some fine points. The ending was a little too easy for me, and I had a feeling it was coming. Living in MN I always enjoy a good book in New York City because it always gives me a glimpse of what big city life is like and this book has all of that.

This book was pretty good, although the main character was a little annoying
