September, 1939. England is at war with Nazi Germany. In Southampton, the world's most luxurious airliner--the legendary Pan Am clipper--takes off for its final flight to neutral America. Aboard are the cream of society and dregs of humanity, all fleeing the war for reasons of their own, and shadowed by a danger they do not know exists. They are heading into a storm of violence, intrigue, love, sex and betrayal that will make this the most unforgettable flight of fiction you have ever been strapped into from opening page to shattering climax...

Another great Follett thriller. He keeps you guessing until halfway through the book just what is about to happen to this Clipper "flying boat" and who the bad guys really are. From that point on, it's very hard to put down.

Excellent book from a terrific writer. Set in 1939 when England was at war with the Nazis. This book has all the best of Follet going for it.

I don't think I've ever read anything by Follett that I haven't liked. I highly recommend this book. It sounded boring when my sister first described it to me, but it is a good book!

This is a wonderful book, filled with the details & plot & character development that Ken Follett is known for. Story is set in 1939 about the Pan Am Clipper. Spine is creased & there is a crease in the front cover. Book overall in very good, readable condition. 524 pgs; publ. 1992.

Ken Follett tells a story about people aboard a flight of the trans-Atlantic clipper plane in 1939, as WWII is beginning. The characters include: an aristocratic family who have been forced to leave England because of the fathers fascist views, a petty crook,an eloping couple who are being pursued by the womans jealous husband and various others.

Leaving England in September 1939, the legendary Pan Am Clipper flies through the night, with it's passenger list of both the bream and the dregs of society.
