This novel is filled with quirky characters and a interesting village that provides us with an inside look into the Alaskan "cut-throat" fishing business. There are also many humorous observations about the "war between the sexes...Alaskan style! A good "who-done-it" with a complex love affair...Harlequin style! This very thoughtfully written novel will leave you wanting more!

This is a new series for Stabenow, whose books about Alaska are very popular. In this one, we meet Liam Campbell, a state trooper. I think I like this series even better than her better known Kate Shugat series.

I have read all of Stabenow's books. This one is a good one.

Liam is a new character--a state trooper.His wife was put in a coma and his son was killed by a drunk driver.He wasn't doing his job,and they held him resposible for what his men did.He was busted and sent to the "country".In the first few pages,he arrives at his job and finds a dead man when he gets off the plane, and it doesn't stop there.One thing after another happens.This book keeps on the move.A little more gritty than the Shugak.I found it interesting.

The first Liam Campbell mystery - a lot of good twists and turns and characters I can't wait to see more of.
