Book Description:
As a guidance counselor at an elite, Bel Air high school, Lara Stone is definitely not ready to have any spoiled, bratty kids of her own. At least not now, when she has finally managed to Tae-Bo and low-carb herself down to a perfect size four. But her husband has different ideas, and they include fatherhood. Now.

Suddenly, Lara finds herself deep within the underbelly of pregnancy, as a cranky, non-glowing mother-to-be dealing with uncontrollable crying jags, inexplicable weight gain, and scary hemorrhoids. And her mood doesn't improve when she's given the task of getting one of her students-the punk, outcast daughter of a famous movie director-into a highly competitive college.

Expecting is nothing like Lara ever expected.

I had watched the tellie show BEFORE I read the book, so I kept finding myself comparing the two. It was a quick read (I read it in 2 days) and it was nice to see a pregnancy from the beginning to the end not idealized as "perfect" ... because honestly, is there such a thing? I think that the bits Lara says are things that those of us that are mothers have always wanted to say outloud!! I did chuckle and laugh out loud a couple of times ... I'd recommend the book, even if you didn't like the telly series (although I did), because they really are totally different. Risa Green is working on a sequel about life with baby ...

Total chick lit, but I have to say that I laughed out loud many times. There was so much that reminded me of my own first pregnancy. I highly recommend this book.

A good read but I really hope the author didn't base the main character on herself....what a snot!
