Book Description:
In Regency London, a young woman and her family are about to be thrown out of their home on Christmas Eve by their cruel landlord. In desperation, she wishes upon an ancient family heirloom--a risque pagan statue with magical powers--to save her family. But she never expected her savior to be a wealthy earl with a marriage proposal! As she accepts the good fortune granted to her, the magic of the statue exacts a high price in return. Does she have the strength to overcome those who plot to separate her from her newfound love, and the unpredictable powers of the statue?

Well written very amusing regency light romance. Involves a woman who has had a magical figure called a sheela ma gig passed down in her family for centuries and is compelled to use it because her parents have both died recently and she is in dire straights trying to take care of her younger siblings with no source of income. She wishes for a source of support and an earl whom she has never laid eyes upon sends word that he wants to marry her (sight unseen) tomorrow; she is to appear at the church at 11:00 if she accepts his proposal. Absolultely hilarious characters (including clever and amusing pets) and most hilarious ending I have ever read. Not as much steam as I usually like, but oh well, can't have everything.

I enjoyed this book a lot, although I did almost put it down when the heroine, early on in the book, "had only one resource....The wishing stone." I am so glad that I continued. The love story is touching and some of the characters are just down right funny!
