Book Description:
A princess died in this corset. Who wouldn't kill for it?

"Find the corset!" Corset maker Magda Rousseau's dying words send her friend, fashion reporter Lacey Smithsonian, on a high-stakes scavenger hunt, racing against death. Magda's family secrets held clues to the fabled jewel-filled corset of a Romanov princess, and finding the corset would mean wealth beyond her wildest dreams. Lacey signs on for the fashion story of the century and a chance to see Paris, the city of her dreams -- and a refuge from her romantic troubles. But murder ends Magda's dream on the eve of their trip, and now Lacey must follow a tangled thread of clues across two continents, pursued by spies, jewel thieves and a murderer. "Bloody thread, knock 'em dead!" was a favorite saying of Magda's, a theatre costumer's good-luck wish. If the seamstress happens to prick her finger, Magda said, her drop of blood ensures the play's success. But will this bloody thread lead Lacey to the fabulous lost corset and her lost love -- or the tightening embrace of a killer?

Lacey's Fashion Bite of the Day:

Need that swagger of a sexy secret under your conservative suit? Need that jolt of pure physical confidence that comes from within (or someplace pretty close to it)? You need the Red Bra of Courage!

I wanted to enjoy this book more than I actually did. I couldn't get in sync with the author's pace-it felt like it was trying to move quickly but didn't. Had to read to the end to find out what happened, though.

I am totally enjoying Lacey and her friends. I wish I had a stylist like Stella.....or do I?? And Vic, well we could ALL use a Vic. Lacey just falls into these murders, uses fashion to figure out who did it, and always gets her man - or woman.

This book takes her to Paris and then to New Orleans to solve the mystery of a long lost Romanov corset and also the related murder of Magda Rousseau, a corset creator. Magda tells Lacey the tale of the corset and Lacey gets permission from her paper to go to Paris to cover the story with Magda. Unfortunately Magda is stabbed and/or poisoned before she can make the trip. Lacey goes on, taking her friend and lawyer, Brooke, with her. She had Vic are on the outs but don't worry, we all know how that will end!

each book gets better and better. This is a series and I think best read in order. But the books have a great plot, lots of good humor, and wonderful characters.

I loved her 1st and 2nd book. Great writer. Missed the 3rd book. This was just not quiet as good. It was still good enough, but it just seemed flat. I was also disturbed me that VIC would just beat up Nigel at random when He didnt like him or something he said. Not nec in self defense. I can understand the fights during self defense. So much of the book with Nigel and THE KGB guy seemed dull, useless, and poorly written It seems like she tried to rush this book in the series and could spent more time editing and fine tuning her story. It is set in Paris and New Orleans-mainly and maybe the writer just couldnt make her character believable outside of DC. Even the Crimes of Fashion column seemed flat in this book. You read it and you decide. It has some great parts. But she seemed to fall down on the great mystery part this time.

The title on the cover is "Raiders of the Lost Corset" not Raiders of the Corset which is the title attached to the isbn.
