Book Description:
Blessed -or cursed- with the ability to change into a sleek panther, and driven by a dark soul he's accepted as his fate, Adrik Wilder abandons his family and his honor to pursue a life of wickedness. He excels at every vice, including kidnapping Karen Sonnet to use for his selfish purposes.

But Karen's spirit and passion make him question the force of his family's curse. And when a new evil emerges, Adrik must choose whether to enact revenge on his enemies and redeem his soul, or save Karen from a fate worse than death...

I like this series as a whole. I wasn't sure about the interaction between the H & H in the first part of the book. The early part of the book seemed a bit disconnected from the series but I was happy that was cleared up later in the story. I really enjoyed this one and the only thing I thought could have been improved was the heroine seemed a little cold throughout the book. I never got the impression that she actually seemed as in love with him as he was with her. That could just be my impression. That said, still liked the book and am eagerly awaiting the next one "Into the Flame" Firebird and Doug Black's story.

My goodness...I REALLY love this series. I can't put my finger on the exact reason, other than it kept me from wanting to do anything else but read it through. I had to force myself to go to bed halfway into it, had vivid dreams through the night, and awoke to pick it right back up again. I am off to grab #4 now; my family wants their mother back...but they can wait, LOL.

Yes, Warlord is the "bad boy;" Karen is the stubborn heroine that will not cave; and everything falls into place by the end. If you have not read the others, no worries, this could be a stand alone book and still be captivating. 4 1/2 stars from me.

The third and best book of the series. Adrik Wilder, 'Warlord', current times, Nepal, Washington Mountains, and Karen Sonnet. Karen is a construction site manager for her father, who builds adventurer hotels out in the middle of nowhere. Warlord is in charge of a band of about 200+ mercenaries and thieves there on the border of Nepal and Tibet. He had run away from his family when he was 17 after having killed a man, and he had been living on the edge ever since. He had been sneaking into Karen’s tent almost nightly for nearly two months, but she had no idea who he was until one day when the mountain she blasting started down on her and he saved her and it was then that he decided that she was his, forever and forced her to his tent refusing to let her leave. When the Varinski’s attacked his camp he sent her out the back entrance and told her to stay alive because he would come for her. She spent a year traveling, discovering herself, and looking over her shoulder for Warlord. She ended up in Arizona, working at a spa when Rick Wilder came for a visit. She thought when he walked in the door that it was Warlord, but he looked just enough different, and his eyes were green, not black, and he totally wasn’t alpha aggressive, so, maybe it wasn’t him. After a week she really believed he might not be Warlord, and even let him walk her back to her bungalow, but one kiss, and she knew exactly who he was. He was hoping to gain her trust but the Varinski’s attacked, and they were on the run for their lives. This was a really GREAT book.

Into the Shadow is by far my favorite so far of the Darkness Chosen Series. Once again, another bad boy gets my attention. Adrik was not only a bad boy, but a hot one at that! Can't wait to read Into the Flame, which I have been unpatiently waiting to pop up on my wishlist!

It starts off all macho but of course the guy becomes love struck. This is the first of four in a set. Get all four to read on right after the other. Three brothers (shift changers) and a sister who isnt. Great set. im glad i got all four at once. Jany

This was my favorite in the series. Great scenes of passion, but also the most developed and interesting characters in the Darkness Chosen series.

I loved this series. I also liked how each book pulls more information together as the families struggle and relate to eachother.
