Book Description:
There's trouble in Maggody, Arkansas, again, and Chief of Police Arly Hanks has her hands full. The trouble's name is Brandon Bernswallow, the local bank president's playboy son, who became the new head teller and bumped long-time employee Johnna Mae Nookim right down to minimum wage. The fighting-mad women of Maggody are over in Ruby Bee's Bar and Grill planning a sex discrimination protest and a scheme to give the male chauvinists their comeuppance. But they are just as appalled as the men folk when the bank--and Bernswallow--go up in flames. Preacher Verber is sure it's the devil's handiwork. Mayor Jim Bob blames the Commies. but Arly is determined to sift through the ashes...and discover who cooked up this case of downhome murder.

As always the story line is great and filled with so much humor. Now that I live in Arkansas I enjoy these even more. These books make me laugh out loud at the funny things that happen in the town of Maggody. Must read these boods. You do not have to read them in the order they are published because Joan Hess (Yah Joan) fills you in on who the characters are. Barbara

Another hilarious chronicle of life in Maggody, Arkansas, and Arly Hanks, the Chief of Police there. She's rounding up the usual suspects!

These books are great fun! If you've never come across a Maggody book, do yourself a favor and indulge.

The Maggody Chief of Police is Arly Hanks, the long suffering daughter of Ruby Bee (who insists on aiding and abetting on her own terms). The series follows a pretty set cast of recurring chartacters, including some of the most interesting personalities you'll ever read about. The fun comes more from the efforts to solve the mystery rather than from the mystery itself.

Much Ado - A bank teller/son-of-a-playboy goes up in flames. Everyone has their own theories (Mayor Jim Bob thinks it's the Commies), but Arly is determined to "discover who cooked up this case of downhome murder."

Great Fun!

Arly has her hands full of course.
