Book Description:
So far, Kathie Williams has made a good showing as the only American author at a mystery conference in Manchester-what with that falling asleep in public thing behind her. The sight of Iain MacLaren wakes her up. Clad in a deliciously woolly sweater, the burly Scotsman seems to be holding up a wall at the cocktail party. So Kathie makes her move...and winds up stark naked with him in bed, where his thick Scottish brogue, thick manly chest, and thick...other parts...drive her to do things she's never done before. Like fall in love. And if things aren't moving fast enough-and on the wrong side of the road, no less-Kathie is about to visit Iain's sheep farm in the Scottish Highlands and meet his sons. She's feeling a wee bit nervous. Because she can't tell where this "relationship" is going-except north...

While I was reading this, I kept wondering why the heroine wanted to be with this guy. This one kept me away from Macalister's contemps. I'll stick to her paranormals.

Too much sex for me!

I didn't like this as much as I'd hoped. Kathie was very annoying, and the "bad guys" - Bridget and Archie -- were too venomous to make this the light-hearted comic romance I was axpecting.

It started out good, but it became so mundane that I just couldn't finish the last several chapters. I normally like all of Katie MacAlister's books. This one just didn't do that for me.

A merge of romance and chick-lit, this is about the wacky adventures of a woman who falls instantly in love with a Scot and goes to live with him on his sheep farm in Scotland. Funny, but I found the plot too episodic and the heroine far too hysterical; I got tired of it all around half-way through.

Unless you want to learn about herding sheep I would say "SKIP IT!" I can LOVE Katie MacAlister's newer books, but this early one was sub par.

A YUMMY CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE, MacAlister usually dips into the supernatural so I didn't know she could keep it straight but her men brawny. Yummy!

It was a sweetie if you go for the Bridgety-Jones (though much easier to read) story line. Fun. Made me want to move overseas and find a lovely Scottish laird of my own.

i just dont understand how an author can right really funny fully thought through books like sex and the single vampire and even vampires get the blues and then write these stupid books about modern women and modern men who are so vain and vapid and concerned with their weight! THe plot trods along and by page 15 it was a challenge to turn the page and keep reading, i was always really happy when i hit a new chapter cuz it meant i could put the book down for the day, ugh skip all her books like this and focus on her paranormal books they are way worth while.

Scotland sheep farmer Iain MacLaren likes reading mysteries so it makes sense that his adult sons would gift him with a trip to England to a mystery writer's conference with a chance to meet his favorite authors. American mystery author Kathie Williams has never been to England so she jumps at the chance to attend a mystery writers' conference there. Kathie is taken with Iain's burly good looks, wooly sweater and thick Scottish brogue and he is charmed by her. When he invites her to visit his sheep farm in the Scottish Highlands and meet his family (a dour and unfriendly son, a nice welcoming son and his new wife, a too friendly ex-girlfriend who also is Iain's closest neighbor, and a weird ex-wife), Kathie is elated. When their mad affair deepens and lasts, Kathie gets to learn all about sheep including delivering lambs and Iain gets to meet her wacky American family...all who keep asking why doesn't Iain wear a kilt and what do they wear under those things anyway! A sexy and funny book.

I love this book. It is so funny and has a good dose of drama in it. This was my first time reading a Katie Macalister book but it will not be my last. I have just added her to my list of favorite authors.
