Book Description:
From the bestselling author of Azur Like it and Farm Fatale comes a domestic comedy set in the world of coupledom and new parenthood

Bath, England—the swanky town once home to ancient Roman spas and Jane Austen heroines—is the setting for this brilliant new novel. Birthing class brings together two sets of expectant parents, who couldn't be more different. Hugo and his spoiled wife Amanda plan to throw money at the problems of parenthood, making use of private hospitals and nurses, while environmentally friendly Jake and Alice have arranged a home-delivery complete with birthing pool and whale music.

When Amanda decides she's not cut out for motherhood and Hugo must look elsewhere for a sympathetic ear, the couples are inextricably drawn together once again, resulting in hilarious social comedy, as only Wendy Holden can write it.

Not really chick-lit but young married lit - quite entertaining. Two couples in Bath encounter one another in birthing class - but the wives were enemies earlier in New York. The husbands could not be more different, either - one a real estate agent, formerly a London high flyer; the other a commando recycler who frequents dumps and reuses condoms. (Birthing class, remember?) The story follows the two families in the early months of child-rearing, when their paths cross in totally unexpected ways.

Quite readable.

The perfect summer read. Full of characters you love and hate. Wndy Holden writes in a way that you imagine the surroundings and characters without realizing it, it is as if a movie is playing in your head...

Slow start, but once I got into it, I stayed up reading it until the wee hours. Different premise for a chick lit book. Pretty good!
