Book Description:
She was a wild woman with flowing coppery tresses and luminous emerald eyes. Yet Rayna Syn was so much more to Dax Vahnti: She was his assassin. The savage beauty's attempt on his life had failed, but the Warlord could not let his guard down for a moment, not even when the lovely creature with wild russet hair enchanted his very being. His need to possess the wondrous beauty was overpowering, yet the danger she presented could not be denied.

Ever since she was a young girl, Rayna had known of the prophesies that foretold the Warlord's demise. Her duty to her people was sacred, yet Dax's ruggedly handsome face and well-muscled body presented a challenge like none she had ever faced. His kiss seared her soul, and his gaze gripped her heart. And when Rayna's treacherous emotions betrayed her desire for her sworn enemy, she was forced to choose between having Dax as her love or making him her. . . heart's prey

I am a huge romance fan and enjoy a good sci fi as well. In Heart's Prey, you get a respectable combination of both. It was well written, moving, emotional and adventurous.

Science fiction romance. Lovely (of course) shapeshifter heroine from a primative planet meets up with the head Warlord over a planetary empire that includes hers. Great worldbuilding.
