Not bad, quick read..helps a little if you read her first one, "A Girl's Guide to Vampires"

If Allie doesn't find a ghost soon, her short career as a "Summoner" will be a thing of the past, so she is delighted to find what she thinks is the tortured spirit of a gorgeous, naked, wounded man. But the cranky spirit doesn't need her help since he isn't a ghost but the best-selling author of vampire romances and Moravian Dark One. Allie wants answers from Christian, but he is more interested in working out the exact nature of their relationship, since fate has chosen Allie as his "Beloved."

I decided to give this a shot- I generally like Katie MaCalister's work although I didn't think the first book in the Dark Ones series was one of her best. I am glad I gave it a second chance here! The second book has redeemed the series; I read it in 2 days and loved it. I recommend this although I think you would have to read the first book in order to understand some of the circumstances of the story.

Similarities of Christine Feehan's Dark Hunters. The DH here is named the "Dark One" and he also needs to find a woman to redeem his soul. The woman takes the form of a Summoner; someone who summons ghosts, poltergeists, and demon lords. Macalister's book is lighter than Feehan's DH books and there's less sex. Both authors are good reads depending what mood you're in. A quick and fun read, humorous, especially when the protagonist deals with the 5 ghosts in her keep.

This is an engaging and humorous romance. When the friends of Christian decide to help him find his Beloved, they go all out. She falls into her powers as a Summoner and into his arms at the same time. A good read.

Vampire love, with witty dialogue, but unrealistic character motivation. Summer read.
