This is the first book I've read from Laurell Hamilton's Anita Blake series. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ms Blake is a necromancer; she's gifted at raising the dead, including the long dead and is hired by a very wealthy man to raise many of the dead from an old burial ground. Supposedly he wants to buy this hill and area for a business venture. The owners won't sell to him because they believe at least one of their ancestors is buried there. Anita needs to raise the dead in order to find the truth for both buyer and unwilling seller. Buy why this particular hill and not one of the many others surrounding it? This sparks Anita's suspicions but before she can investigate further she is sidetrack to a murder investigation. A sheriff she knows has put a request in for her. When she learns from him that 3 teenagers were viciously murdered, their bodies left desecrated, Anita knows she's one of the very few people who can potentially solve this mystery. With her assistant and sexy boyfriend, Anita is off on a dangerous adventure to find out the identity of the killer. Not an easy book to put down!

Anita Blake #5.
I am doing everything in my power to not run directly to a bookstore to buy the next book this very second.

This book felt more put together and a little darker than the other Anita books before it. It also points out that you don't have to be a monster to be truely evil.

This book has a lot of action, shows more of a relationship between Anita and Jean-Claude. I really enjoyed it.

5th book in the Anita Blake Vampire Series. Honestly, I still like the first four the best. ;) But this one was a good breath of fresh air from the "sameness" that they were developing. A good plot, and hey, JEAN CLAUDE.

Great fifth book to the series. Loved the intro of the fae characters. Like the development of the Larry character and the way Anita is mentoring and teaching him.

Laurell K Hamilton has done it again. This is 5th in the series and a wonderful read. I am so anxious to start the next one. this book is not very sexual but is exciting. Anita Blake is turning into a great character. John- Claude is starting to become a very likable character also. The conflict in this book is very climactic.
