The eighth book in the popular Alan Gregory series, Cold Case is the most compelling story to date from acclaimed suspense writer Stephen White. In 1988, two young girls disappeared one night and were never heard from again. The following spring, their bodies were discovered in a melting snowbank with few clues about the crime. Years later, still unsolved, this "cold case" is brought to the attention of a group known as "Locard"-a talented network of former and current prosecutors, federal law-enforcement agents, and forensic specialists, who reexamine and solve old criminal cases. Psychiatrist Alan Gregory and his wife, Assistant District Attorney Lauren Crowder, are drawn in to help Locard unravel what quickly reveals itself to be a complicated and dangerous case, involving not one, but two murders and the credibility of a popular local celebrity. With Cold Case, Stephen White delivers a story to his readers that is at once stimulating and unnerving.
"Stephen White gives us fresh and suspenseful plotting, disarmingly genuine characters, and writing at a level this genre seldom produces."-Cleveland Plain Dealer

In many ways, White and his Alan Gregory series just keeps getting better. One thing that is starting to be unbelievable, though, is Dr. G's propensity for getting into and out of incredible physical danger. He seems to have a talisman that keeps bullets and flying logs from harming him. So while the action is indeed exciting if somewhat over-the-top, White's expertise, his psychological background, shines through every time and combined with his flawless plotting makes every book worth reading.
