If you are already a fan, prepare yourself to settle into a novel Dean Koontz considers perhaps his best work to date. If you are a brand-new Dean Koontz reader, buckle up for what will be a most breathtaking ride through the long, enthralling night of...

Christopher Snow is different from all the other residents of Moonlight Bay, different from anyone you've ever met. For Christopher Snow has made his peace with a very rare genetic disorder shared by only one thousand other Americans, a disorder that leaves him dangerously vulnerable to light. His life is filled with the fascinating rituals of one who must embrace the dark. He knows the night as no one else ever will, ever can--the mystery, the beauty, the many terrors, and the eerie, silken rhythms of the night--for it is only at night that he is free.

Until the night he witnesses a series of disturbing incidents that sweep him into a violent mystery only he can solve, a mystery that will force him to rise above all fears and confront the many-layered strangeness of Moonlight Bay and its residents.

Once again drawing daringly from several genres, Dean Koontz has created a narrative that is a thriller, a mystery, a wild adventure, a novel of friendship, a rousing story of triumph over severe physical limitations, and a haunting cautionary tale.

Something strange is happening in Moonlight Bay. Something unleashed by the now closed military base. Something that makes the animals not quite animals. Something that makes the human not quite human.

If you like Koontz, You'll probably like this book.

Dean Koontz has interesting charachters, and like Odd Thomas, the protagonist Christopher Snow has an interesting voice and an even more interesting life. What starts off seeming to be a murder mystery quickly develops levels of revelations that are frightening and fantastical. I enjoyed this book as the reader is with Chris (and Orson his dog) without those glimpses into the mind/minds of those opposing him. This is a charachter I'd like to read about again, and I am betting you will too.

I really enjoyed this book. It has been awhile since I read a Koontz novel and I forgot how delightful they can be. This book is well written and the main character is very likeable and has a wicked sense of humor. I found myself laughing out loud in certain parts. I would definitely recommend.

Typical Koontz. If you enjoy thrills, mystery, adventure and the sense of human triumph you will enjoy this book. There is no better author of scary suspense and making the reader question different possibilities than Koontz.

What a wonderful start to the first in the Moonlight Bay series. This book has some of Koontz's best writing and the characters are wonderful.
