This is the first volume of a new series...The First Americans. When humans first walked the world, when nature ruled the earth and sky, a proud tribe is threatened by a series of horrifying natural disasters. A bold young hunter named Torka, who lost his wife and child to a killer mammoth, leads the survivors over the glacial tundra on a desperate eastward odyssey to save their clan. If you are looking for a good read this is the book. Sarabande has a way of putting you right into the pages with the characters. A can't put down book.

This is actually an accidental second copy I received, but I've started the first copy and find it generally a little too romanticized and flowery compared to others of the genre. This is a North American analogue to Jean Aul's Cave series on prehistoric Europe; I liked them better, so far.
