This book is awesome. Which child is the second child?? Couldn't put it down!

It took me one day to read this book...John Saul is such agood author. Great read!!!!

I picked this up to read it before posting and by the end of the first chapter, I realized I had read it before. I read it again anyway and it was just as good the second time. There are little payoffs along the way so you don't feel like the same thing is dragging on forever, but the final twist isn't until the last few pages! Warning though, this one is not for the squimish.

A lush, secluded Maine seaside resort. Summer playground of the superrich. One hundred years ago, something disturbed their play. Horror came to this village. And though no one knows it yet, the horror has never left.

Another one of John Saul books that was very engaging. When Teri's parents died in a house fire, she moves in with her father(Charles), step-mother(Phyllis), and half-sister(Melissa). At first everything is going well for Teri. Although Teri is treated like gold by her step-mother, Melissa is being abused by ner mother. One night Teri witnesses the punishment Phyllis imposes on Melissa.
After that night Teri creates a sinister plan to get rid of Melissa and taking her rightful place as the daughter of the Halloway Household.
This story really draws you in and makes you feel for the characters that are on the recieving end of Teri and Phyllis's wrathe. If you are looking for one of those books that are impossible to put down, this is it!
