This is an accurate and thrilling account of the Cheyenne Indians in the last days of thier freedom. It centers around a woman that is considered holy by her tribe. She struggles to lead her people at a time of great unrest and heartache. Many of the spirital beliefs of the Indian people are explored and it's amazing how close to Christianity they were. It's a hard book to read because the white man acted so unbelievably fickle towards the Indians. Most had no desire to understand the Indians and without any knowledge considered them savages. It's a fast read, I couldn't put it down and suffered a lack of sleep because of it!

Song of the Wolf has made it nearly impossible for any other book to come close to being a good read! I have never cried or laughed out loud while reading, even though I might have enjoyed whatever book I was reading at the time. I was truly touched by this book as no other.

To be honest I only read a few chapters. I had trouble with the idea that a normal 6 year old girl was having sexual feelings for a 14 year old boy. Just not my cup of tea.
