Book Description:
Carmen got the jeans at a thrift shop. They didn't look all that great; they were worn, dirty, and speckled with bleach. On the night before she and her friends part for the summer, Carmen decides to toss them. But Tibby says they're great. She'd love to have them.

Lena and Bridget also think they're fabulous. Lena decides they should all try them on. Whoever they fit best will get them. Nobody knows why, but the pants fit everyone perfectly. Even Carmen (who never thinks she looks good in anything), thinks she looks good in the pants. Over a few bags of cheese puffs they decide to form a sisterhood, and take the vow of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants... the next morning, they say good-bye. And now the journey of the pants - and the most memorable summer of their lives - begins.

This is a young adult book that is just like the movie with the same title. This was a very quick read (for me as I am an adult!), but I think it would be a great book for a teenager aged 12-15. It revolves around the lives of 4 teenagers as they spend their first summer away from each other. They share magical jeans, which they send to each other throughout the summer. These jeans fit them all and make them look fabulous, even though they are of all different body shapes and heights. These jeans also are with them as some wonderful and life-changing events happen. A note of caution: there are some sexual encounters in the book (not very explicit), so parents may want to consider that before letting their child read it.

Sweet and moving read about four young women who begin to grow up while separated for the summer.

I read this book before I saw the movie and I thought the book was better than the movie. I've read all of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books and say it is a good read for all ages.

Good book. I'm hoping the next in the series is good, too.

This was an enjoyable, lighthearted read. It only takes about a day to read, but it is definitely a nice diversion.

Once there was a pair of pants. Just an ordinary pair of jeans. But these pants, The Traveling Pants, went on to do great things. This is the story of the four friends--Lena, Tibby, Bridget, and Carmen--who made it possible.

Too mature for tweens but good for older teens or adults. I didn't like it very much though, I felt just "ho hum" about it.

Enjoyed this whole series. Did not see the movie.
This is also a book crossing book, so I has a sticker inside the front cover.

SO much better than the movie! I've read all 3 books in the series and am eagerly awaiting the fourth. Lighthearted yet poignant, a brilliant story about the depths of friendship. Each book gets better and better. I was crying by the end.

Pretty good story, it was a teen novel that still held my attention and interest. I loaned it to my teenaged SIL, and she loved it, too.

Wonderfully written story! I've read all three of the "girls in pants" series and enjoyed them all very much.

The book that became the movie, delas with alot of teenage issues. Easy to read, but very thought provoking.
