Book Description:
The moving novel of a family that discovers the everyday magic of life and the extraordinary power of love.

“You don’t have to be a sucker for happy endings to love this book, but it helps.”
–New York Times Book Review

“Eloquent…A moving and complete tale of the complicated phenomenon we call family.”
–People

“At the forefront of this well-crafted story stands Cass, youngest and feistiest of the Keating sisters, a mother of three who enjoys hot sex in semipublic locations with husband Billy Medieros, her sweetheart since high school. During a season of emotional and financial upheavals within the Keating clan, the Medieroses’ marriage becomes strained in ways that make Billy wonder whether Cass is more devoted to her family than to him. Then Billy adds to the stress by leaving his father-in-law’s fleet and buying his own boat. His rebellion sets up the book’s unexpected final episode, an electrifying disaster at sea that puts all of the characters back in touch with their deepest loyalties and passions.”
–Glamour

“Rice has an elegant style, a sharp eye and a real warmth. In her hands families–and their values–seem worth cherishing.”
–San Francisco Chronicle

“Brilliant.”
–Entertainment Weekly

Rice book's are about the Irish culture but this book is about shipping industry as well. It's about the hardships of staying in love when one of your children is handicapped and still trying to keep the romance alive. Rice does this in a very risque way not the usual romantic picnic and then making love afterwards as a typical clique.

The plot is more complex than it appears. I have read all of Luanne Rice's books and this one is not a dissappointer.

Set in New England in the town of Mount Hope, this story centers around Cass and her husband Billy who were high school sweethearts. Cass, her sisters and her mother run a family owned waterfront restaurant. Billy works for Cass's father, who owns a fishing fleet. They have 3 children, one of whom is hearing impaired. The dynamics of a small town and a very close knit family keep you glued to the book. It's definitely a "I can't wait to get home from work so I can read" kind of book!

Heart warming and heart racing. Not as predictable as one might think.
