Book Description:
New York Times bestselling author Lisa Gardner is at the top of her form as she takes us on a desperate manhunt for a killer who preys upon his victim's’ minds— -- just before he claims their lives.

What do you do when a killer targets the people you love the most? When he knows how to make them vulnerable? When he knows the same about you?

These are the questions that haunt FBI Special Agent Pierce Quincy. The police say his daughter’'s death was an accident. Quincy will risk everything to learn the truth— -- and there’'s only one person willing to help. Ex-cop Rainie Connor had once been paired professionally— -- and personally— -- with the brilliant FBI profiler. He helped her through the darkest days of her life.

Now it'’s time for Rainie to return the favor. But this killer is like none these two hard-boiled pros have ever encountered. This twisted psychopath has an insatiable hunger for revenge... and for fear. As the clock ticks down to one unspeakably intimate act of vengeance, the only way Rainie can unmask this killer is to step directly in his murderous path. She will become a murder waiting to happen. She will be ...the next accident.

This was an gripping mystery which kept me guessing throughout. I realized after I started it that it was the third book in the Pierce Quincy series, but I enjoyed it anyway. I liked the characters Quincy, Rainie and Kim and was rooting for them to outwit the killer. Good twists and turns as both the heroes and the villain set up obstacles against the other. Now to find the first two books, The Perfect Husband and The Third Victim!

Three-quarters of the way through the book I became riveted to every page. So tempted to speed read to find out who the murderer was -- so many possibilities but there is only one. Definitely going to read another one of her books.

This was my first Lisa Gardner book and I'm hooked!!

FBI Special Agent Pierce Quincy is certain his daughter's death due to a car accident was no accident and he's determined to prove it.

From the back of the book....What do you do when a killer targets the people you love the most? When he knows how to make them vulnerable? When he knows the same about you?

This is one of those late night page-turners. Don't start it if you have to go to work the next day!!

Too few clues until the very end where the writer has to take up 10 pages justifying the outcome.

Tension is Lisa Gardner's forte and she doesn't fail in The Next Accident. The jacket blurb reveals the story line: What do you do when a killer targets the people you love the most? He helped her through the darkest days of her life - and now it's time for her to return the favor. But this killer is like none these two hard boiled pros have ever encountered. Ths twisted psychopath has an instaiable hunger for revenge and for fear. As the clock ticks down to one unspeakably intimate act of vengeance, the only way Rainie can unmask this killer is to step directly un his murderous path. She will become a murder waiting to happen. She will be ... the next accident.

This is a story about an FBI agent and his former girlfriend trying to stop a pyschopathic killer from continuing his murder spree on the FBI agent's family. The characters worked well together and the story has a good flow to it. It keeps you interested in reading the book because of the suspense as to who is doing the killing and why.

I recommend it highly.

FBI Special Agent Pierce Quince's family is a target from who? Ex-Cop Rainie Conner again teams up with Quince to help solve the puzzle. A real page turner and continually keeps you guessing. Great book!

A great suspense from a good author.

This book was great! This is the third book of the Quincy-Rainie ongoing series and they just keep getting better. In order the books are:

"The Perfect Husband" intro of Pierce Quincy
"The Third Victim" intro of Rainie Conner
"The Next Accident" intro of Kimberly Quincy
"The Killing Hour" intro of Michael "Mac" McCormack
"Gone"
"Say Goodbye"

I have not read the last two books but the rest have all been great reads. I would suggest reading these books in proper order just to understand and appreciate the dynamics of each character and their interaction with each other. However, there is enough background info given in each book so that they don't necessarily need to be read in order.

Took a few pages for this book to get started but once it did - WHOA! The author kept making reference to a previous book which I had read a long time ago. I remember the characters from then, but the storyline I had forgotten so the references kind of threw me. But after that got straight, then the characters were really moving. It was kind of like "I know who did it, just go ahead and get them" and then they do a complete 180° and I was so wrong!! Very good book - recommend to crime/mystery readers and looking forward to the next one!

Another novel involving Special Agent Pierce Quincy and ex-cop, Rainie Connor. If you haven't yet been introduced to them, this is a good way to begin. If you have, you'll like this one, too.
