Nice series about a vet who likes to play detective. Just the right touch of dog/cat storyline..highly recommended.

The main character is a vet, who also snoops into murder--it's the perfect book for animal lovers, who like a little murder mystery!

Book is a bit long, mostly because of details about various breeds of dogs. They are interspersed in with the story. The protagionist, a veternarian, is likeable as is the Long Island setting.

Next in the Jessica Popper, Long Island Vet, series with Lou and MAx her doggie partners. Jess is standing in, at a fund raising festival, for her friend, manning the Ask the Vet booth and meeting fabled movie stars . Good series

Another good addition to the "Reigning Cats and Dogs" mystery series. This time Jessica Popper takes on the "Ask the Vet" booth at a local dog show. This is taking place in the swank end of Long Island and stars, authors, and their "hanger-ons" are all over the place. Jess is staying in the guest house of an actor during the show, and this tends to give her multiple difficulties with her current beau. Of course the fact that she decides to solve the murder of a local photographer, who the police say was an accidental death, doesn't endear her to Nick either. Great story & mystery. Incidentally I read one of the books later in the series after this one, and I really would advise that you read the series in order if you can.

I love vet mysteries and grew up near where this series is set, so I really like these.
