Book Description:
A rare hybrid of vampire and werewolf, Riley Jenson and her twin brother, Rhoan, work for Melbourne's Directorate of Other Races, an organization created to police the supernatural races-and protect humans from their depredations. While Rhoan is an exalted guardian, a.k.a. assassin, Riley is merely an office worker-until her brother goes missing on one of his missions. The timing couldn't be worse. More werewolf than vampire, Riley is vulnerable to the moon heat, the week long period before the full moon, when her need to mate becomes all-consuming.Â… Luckily Riley has two willing partners to satisfy her every need. But she will have to control her urges if she's going to find her brotherÂ….Easier said than done as the city pulses with frenzied desire, and Riley is confronted with a very powerful-and delectably naked-vamp who raises her temperature like never before.

In matters carnal, Riley has met her match. But in matters criminal, she must follow her instincts not only to find her brother but to stop an unholy harvest. For someone is doing some shifty cloning in an attempt to produce the ultimate warrior-by tapping into the genome of nonhumans like Rhoan. Now Riley knows just how dangerous the world is for her kind-and just how much it needs her.

I'm going to review the first four books of this series as a "set" since they contain a world story arc that carries through them and most readers will prefer to have all four on hand before starting the series. This is the first book in the Riley Jenson Guardian series, which are paranormal romances set in Melbourne, Australia. Arthur does an excellent job of balancing the paranormal and the romance elements of the story and, while the moon cycle sexual responses of the werewolves echo a bit of LKH's "ardeur", Arthur pulls it off much more smoothly. The paranormal elements are well thought out with a few nice twists to standard mythos. Characters are well drawn, though a bit unbelievably perfect at times. Each book does have a standalone plot with a satisfying conclusion, but as I mentioned, there is a "world arc" that carries through all four books.

This was a good mix of paranormal mystery and romance. At times I worried that Riley's urges would hinder her, but she was able to use them to her advantage or resist them when she needed to. I also liked many of the characters, specifically Riley, Quinn, Rhoan, Jack and Liander. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Kissing Sin.

When I first started this book I was wondering if it was going to be worth my while. It started out with a government agency that worked with non-humans. The book I read right before was "White Witch Black Curse" and it also had that element. It was a smooth and easy read though and the back story of twin wolves born into a pack that kicked them out for being half breeds caught my interest. Soon after something else caught my interest and had me blushing in the night in my bed with my little book like hoping my husband would not wake up to see my dirty delight. It was sexual to say the least and fed my dark desires very well. Though it had a great deal to do with sex, that alone did not carry the book. The plot was interesting and twisted just right and though in the end it left me wanting, but satisfied. The book at the end told of the next 3 in this series and so I have hope that more dirty nights to come. The con I have for this book is that it did not give much information about the world and how the un-humans came out of the closet or when. It was futuristic and did not give a good time line. I hope the other books fill it in more. In the end I have found a new writer to love and that is not easy!

If you like the Anita Blake books (laurell K. hamilton) you will probably like this. Supernatural, some mystery, and some sex...

This action packed series is a must read for any Anita Blake fans out there. Riley Jenson is bringing her own edge to the world of vampire/werewolves.

Between Riley and her twin brother (Rhoan)there seems to be some kind of "scary-type" danger around every corner. How they manage to get out of all this trouble can be scary or humerous. She resists her boss' invitation to become a full-time warrior, yet does the work anyway.
The characters in this book feel like friends after reading and one doesn't quite want to let them go...until the next book!

One suggestion before starting this book...buy the WHOLE series! It was fantastic. For lovers of paranormal/suspense romance w/ sizzling action. This is the series for you.

Full Moon Rising is a fast paced story that kept me interested. I had a hard time putting it down as it never got boring. It is also very erotic and full of heated sex scenes. Since erotic books aren't normally my thing, I won't try and judge that part, I will just say that they are most defiantly steamy. This isn't just a "trashy novel"; however, it is a very good book with a great story.

Great story, fast paced. If you like a raunchy story with a strong, sexual female heroine, this is a good read.

I requested this book because I read reviews here on PBS and was very intrigued by the blurbs. I enjoyed the story and have requested the next book in the series. The premise is similar to other series I enjoy but it has twists that make for and enjoyably different read. If you are looking for a good series read, I think we have found one.

I found it very teedious! Way too much unemotional sex, with way to many people. I get wanting someone who is HOT, but not because you have no choice even if they are rapeing you. Nope this series isn't for me taht is for sure.
I like all my sex scenes to be willing and wanting, with at least a decent plot to go with it. This one sucked.

I had to mark this book only 2 stars. It has too much sex and not enough story. It's quite a shame, as the author is very talented and has a lot of potential. Ms. Arthur, chill out on the sex a little and give us more story!

First in the series. Not the best book I've read but it was interesting. I liked the fact that she is more than just a werewolf. I will try the next book in the series.

Absolutely horrible. Way too much sex and too little plot. This book doesn't even compare to others like the Hollows series by Kim Harrisson.
