Book Description:
She was a woman of secrets in a house of shadows and he held the key...

Mare Westbrook would have made a good warlock, Josie Douglas decided -- with his raven-dark hair, silver eyes, and even a black cat in his arms! She'd chosen the isolated house as a refuge, a place to put the past to rest, but now her gorgeous landlord insisted on fighting her demons... and why did he so resemble the ghostly figure who'd beckoned to her from the head of the stairs?

In a novel that sparkles with her unique blend of romantic mystery and spicy wit, Kay Hooper once more demonstrates her talent for seduction and suspense. Will her bewitched hero succumb to his lady's sorcery or enchant her forever with a spell of his own?

I have read all of Kay Hooper's thrillers but none of her earlier work until now. The Haunting of Josie is just what you want when you reach for a romance novel - light & entertaining with a guaranteed good ending. Build a fire (or do as I did and pop in a “Fireplace” dvd), get your beverage of choice (hot chocolate, in my case), curl up & prepare to spend an enjoyable evening with a good book.

Josie Douglas came to the isolated country cottage with her research, a good alibi, and a gun. She hoped that she'd have enough time to unravel the facts behind the tragedy that years before shattered her life. Instead she found herself in a house haunted by its own dark history. A series of strange coincidences, a ghostly visitor, and a mysterious brass key provide Josie with clues to a mystery that keeps her guessing at every turn. As does Marc Westbrook-a landlord who embodies the meaning of the term drop-dead gorgeous. Soon she'll have to trust him with the secret that drove her into seclusion-a secret that has already cost one man she loved his life.

Interesting ghost story with a pinch of romance. Is the handsome landlord worth her trust or is he involved in the mysterious happenings?

If you like a little romance with your ghost story, you will enjoy this one.

This is the first Kay Hooper book I have read. It was just what I needed ... suspense, romance and intrigue, then throw in a little paranormal activity! It was a fast read; great for a cozy spot with hot tea to ward off a cold winter evening. I will be reading more of her work in the future.

A good book. I read it in one day. The ending a little disappointing, leaving a few questions.

The Haunting of Josie is a fun quick read. It has it all, murder, a ghost, seduction and a black cat with blue eyes that leads her to all the important clues. Josie Douglas comes to the country to be alone and unravel the tragedy that seperated her family only to find herself in a new mystery when a ghost comes to her to help unravel the mystery of his death. This is an enjoyable romantic suspense worth the read.

I jumped right into this book and didn't want to put it down until I finished. Josie is a strong woman who has the appearance of someone fragile. Her past is haunted by tragedy and her present is haunted by a ghost. Marc, her temporary landlord, is a remarkably strong but gentle and compassionate soul who is able to help her find all the answers she is seeking. The "familiar" cat is an extraordinary secondary character and unquestionably keeps the story moving. I felt that the sexual scenes were really sensual and contain feelings of caring and intimacy that remained with me to the end of the book. It was a wonderful feeling to have past tragedy end on such a warm and happy note. It was a very satisfying read.
