Search - Around the World in Eighty Days
Book Description: At ten minutes before seven o'clock on the evening of October 2, 1872, six gentlemen gathered around a table in the Reform Club, London, to sign a wager. The terms stated that one of them would forfeit twenty thousand pounds unless he could return to the same room in exactly eighty days, having completed a trip around the world in the interim. The agreement signed, Mr. Phileas Fogg resumed his game of whist. At seven twenty-five he left the club to collect his servant, Passepartout, and a carpetbag stuffed with pound notes. Hailing a cab for the boat train to Dover, the two began one of the most famous and bizarre journeys ever undertaken in literature.
