this is the true story of everyone's fantasy: leave civilization to open a beach restaurant on Anguilla in the Caribbean. The couple learn the pitfalls and joys of island life in this funny tale.

I loved reading about this couple's true adventures in beginning a restaurant on the small island paradise of Anguilla. They left their home and nearly everything they owned in Vermont for their dream.
Then along came Hurricane Luis, destroying their dream. For anyone who has dreamed of moving to a tropical island, this book is for you.

I did enjoy this book and look forward to reading the second one they wrote. If you are not familiar with Carribean life, though, and in particular in the early to mid-nineties, I can see why some are critical, or took it the wrong way. They are living the life I dream of, and hope to have some day, though, so I will live vicariously through them! Someday, maybe we will get back over to Anguilla and dine with them, too, as we frequent St. Marten.

WOW... this is a great book if you've ever dreamed of leaving everything and moving to a tropical island. No worries, no stress... island time. The Blanchards leave their USA life behind and move to Anguilla to open a restaurant. This details their first year in Anguilla and the trials and tribulations they adjust to on island time.
