Book Description:
The perfect cozy mystery for Halloween, with everyone's favorite phantom in a tale of family secrets, yesteryear romance, and spirits less friendly than herself

Fans of Nancy Atherton's beloved series are eagerly awaiting her latest supernatural treat, as her lovable heroine Lori Shepherd is drawn into another adventure sure to tantalize the mind and touch the heart.

In Aunt Dimity Beats the Devil, Lori's twins are now toddlers, walking and talking enough to drive her nearly stir crazy. So she jumps at the offer of a break--a trip to evaluate a rare book collection in a remote and misty corner of Northumberland. On a dark and stormy night in late October, she sets out for Wyrdhurst Hall, the grim neo-Gothic castle owned by newlyweds Nicole and Jared Hollander. On the way there she encounters Adam Chase, a charming, handsome stranger who knows more than he's telling about the hall's mysterious secrets. Lori falls under Wyrdhurst's spell--and Adam's--when she unearths a cache of World War I letters that tell a tale of doomed love and hint at a treasure hidden in the hall. It will take all of Dimity's supernatural skills to help Lori solve the puzzle and restore peace to a family haunted by its tragic past.

I admit, it was the 'Devil' in the title that got me reading this one! This is one of a long series of 'cozy' supernatural mystery novels. Unlike some I've read in this genre, the supernatural plot elements are 'real.' 'Aunt Dimity' is a ghost who communicates with the rather ordinary Lori Shepherd through messages in an old diary, giving her warnings when needed - and helping her solve mysteries, of course. In this episode, Lori reluctantly leaves her toddlers alone with their father and takes an assignment to evaluate a rare-book collection, located in a Gothic mansion in a remote corner of England. But what seems like a straightforward job becomes more complex when first, Lori needs to be rescued by a temptingly handsome stranger, the couple who are the new owners of the rare books library are hardly acting like newlyweds... and warnings are coming from Dimity to 'Leave, Now.'
Entertaining light reading.

I am averaging one Aunt Dimity book a day. I really should slow down as I don't want them to end. What a fun read they are. I highly recommend them. And read them in order so you don't miss any surprises.
