Come The Spring (Clayborne Brothers) Author:Julie Garwood
Book Description:
Julie Garwood triumphed with her phenomenal For the Roses and her #1 New York Times bestselling trio of novels, One Pink Rose, One White Rose and One Red Rose. Now, she brings her irresistible and heartwarming wit to a delightful new love story featuring the unforgettable frontier family, the Claybornes of Blue Belle, Montana.
Cole Clayborne had always walked a dark path and flirted with a life of crime. While his three brothers chose to settle into married life, Cole rebelliously refused to be tied down. Now, an elusive stranger draws him into a shadowy chase that will bring unexpected turns to his uncertain future -- and may determine which side of the law the restless Cole favors.
A tragic, heartbreaking loss drives U.S. Marshal Daniel Ryan on a quest for vengeance -- and leads him to a beautiful young woman, the sole witness to a terrible crime. But the lawman finds that love is the greatest trial of all as he unwittingly draws her into the line of fire. The power and drama of their blossoming passion, entwined with the surprising destiny of the wayward Cole, make Come the Spring a superbly entertaining adventure inside the heart of "a family whose love and loyalty will truly inspire"

This western romance is sort of a semi-sequel to For the Roses, one of Julie Garwood's best, "featuring the unforgettable frontier family, the Claybornes of Blue Belle, Montana" (named after a depressed Lady of the Evening - not the picturesque flower). Also on that list - you MUST try The Wedding. From the BACK COVER: Cole Clayborne had always walked a dark path and flirted with a life of crime. While his three brothers chose to settle into married life, Cole rebelliously refused to be tied down...

What began so beautifully in For the Roses and continued with The Claybourne Brides comes to a delightful conclusion in COME THE SPRING as Julie Garwood brings us to Cole Claybourne and the elusive Daniel Ryan.
Cole, the rebellious brother, faces a life changing decision when he encounters U.S. Marshall Daniel Ryan, the man who stole his compass from Mama Rose.
Marshall Ryan has kept the compass to lure Cole. He needs Cole's help to capture a notorious band of bank robbers. Daniel believes there was a witness to their last robbery and he means to find her and then the killers.
Cole is reluctant but hes soon caught up in Daniel's investigation. They discover that one of three women in the town was in the bank that day. Once they find Grace, Jessica and Rebecca they must guard them from the gang's wrath.
Both Cole and Daniel discover that protecting the women leaves their hearts unguarded. As they get closer to unmasking the leader of the gang (and a court trial youll never forget), they find the love and peace they need.

Cole Clayborne woke up in a jail cell with a pounding headache, a star on his chest, and a deep feeling of anger at the man who stole his compass and put him there. Daniel Ryan, a United States Marshall from Texas, had taken Cole's compass from his mama, Mama Rose, when she was coming home. Cole's compass has now been returned to him and he's helping Daniel to find some bank robbers he has been chasing for 2 years. They are becoming increasingly more aggressive with every robbery. If it weren’t for a loose shoe string she would have been killed with the others in the bank robbery. When Cole and Daniel suspect there was a witness to the latest robbery hiding under a desk they try to keep it quiet but the town has different ideas. The local sheriff locks the three women, one of which was the one who witnessed the robbery, in a jail cell. Cole and Daniel have to find out which one is the true witness as each woman has given the same story...it wasn't her. In turn each woman then confesses it was she and not the other women. The judge from Texas hearing the case has requested all three women be brought to him for the trial. Cole takes Jessica first and heads out on horseback . Another Marshall is to escort Rebecca via carriage. Daniel is to take Grace although she does most of the taking care of due to him coming down with the flu on the train. Along the way Cole and Jessica "have their wedding night" and Cole declares they will find a preacher at the next town. Daniel and Grace also develop strong feelings for one another along the way although Daniel fights his feelings to the bitter end. Finally, after a few set backs along the way and another robbery has taken place they all make it to the trial just in the nick of time.
