When Susannah McKittrick leaves Nantucket for the boomtown of Seattle, she is hardly looking to strike it rich; she is headed west to care for a newborn left motherless after Susannah's cousin died. Enjoyed so much I've read twice. A story not only of love but of trust.
When her cousin passes away, Susannah travels West to Seattle to care for her dear friend's infant daughter. Upon meeting her cousin's estranged husband; however, the sparks between to fly between the two of them. Susannah soon becomes torn between this newfound passion and loyalty to her deceased friend. And, when marriage is suggested as a viable alternative, the reader wonders if Susannah will marry? And, if she does, will it last? A nice period book from Linda Lael Miller.
Linda Lael Miller, more widely know for her vampire books, writes an excellent historical romance about the Old West. All of them are good and this is no exception.
Susannah comes to Seattle expecting to collect her late cousin's baby and raise her. Despite the fact that she is a penniless spinster, she is determined to keep this last member of her family close. Ethan, the baby's father, has other ideas when he finds the thought of losing Susannah impossible to bear.
If you're a Linda Lael Miller fan, you'll love this book. Wonderful Historical Western Romance with that flavor that Miller knows just how to add so well.
