The Hawking left Earth during the 21st Century on a one-way mission to colonize a distant world. Betty Cay S. (Kirk and crew must help the survivors of a ship out of history adapt to their new reality and find a home. But the home that they choose is having some unusual troubles, too.
This is a well written and imaginative book. Lots of fun.
Kirk and crew discover a crew of pre-warp era colonists for whom (due to the relativistic effects of near light speeds) time has passed only 30 years since the 21st century from which they launched.
