This has to be one of the worst books I was ever forced to read. I used to read to help me fall asleep. Boring and obvious information.

A great book for anyone who aspires to be more effective in every walk of life. I've used Covey's 7 Habits in staff development for school personnel.

This is THE CLASSIC in its field; the original before everything else starting getting "7 habits" attached to it. Covey did his best work in the first book, the rest are sort of like reheated leftovers if you've heard the original.
Very useful, practical techniques to get control of your life instead of letting life get control of you.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change was a groundbreaker when it was first published in 1990, and it continues to be a business bestseller with more than 10 million copies sold. Stephen Covey, an internationally respected leadership authority, realizes that true success encompasses a balance of personal and professional effectiveness, so this book is a manual for performing better in both arenas. His anecdotes are as frequently from family situations as from business challenges.
Before you can adopt the seven habits, you'll need to accomplish what Covey calls a "paradigm shift"--a change in perception and interpretation of how the world works. Covey takes you through this change, which affects how you perceive and act regarding productivity, time management, positive thinking, developing your "proactive muscles" (acting with initiative rather than reacting), and much more.

This isn't a quick-tips-start-tomorrow kind of book. The concepts are sometimes intricate, and you'll want to study this book, not skim it. When you finish, you'll probably have Post-it notes or hand-written annotations in every chapter, and you'll feel like you've taken a powerful seminar by Covey. --Joan Price

"Imagine the difficulty you might encounter if you and your boss had different assumptions regarding whos role it was to creat your job description."... This is an older book, but the information on successful people is just like it was written today.

Recommended by my mentor. Everyone should benefit from these universal principles.
A way to redirect your life or at least confirm you are on the right track.

While I think this is good advice, apparently my various mentors had already passed on the salient points. I found this book rather condescending and it bored me to tears.

I have read this book over and over and over! Each time, I learn something different, and it helps that it's written on such a practical level. If you're ever wondering why the things you do never seem to accomplish as much as you wanted them to... you need to read this book! If it seems as though no one understands you... you need to read this book!
