A rootless foster child, Julie Mathison had blossomed under the love showered upon her by her adoptive family. Now a lovely and vivacious young woman, she was a respected teacher in her small Texas town, and she passionately lived her ideals. Julie was determined to give back all the kindness she'd received; nothing and no one would ever shatter the perfect life she had fashioned.
Zachary Benedict was an actor/director whose Academy Award-winning career had been shattered when he was wrongly convicted of murdering his wife. After the tall, ruggedly handsome Zack escaped from a Texas prison, he abducted Julie and forced her to drive him to his Colorado mountain hideout. She was outraged, cautious, and unable to ignore the instincts that whispered of his innocence. He was cynical, wary, and increasingly attracted to her. Passion was about to capture them both in its fierce embrace...but the journey to trust, true commitment, and proving Zack's innocence was just beginning....

A follow-up to Paradise in that it completes the story of Matt & Meredith Farrell. The premises of Perfect involves a handsome movie star/ director accused of murdering his wife, convicted and sent to prison [he's actually innocent], he escapes after serving 5 years, kidnaps a beautiful young school teacher in order to make his get-away, spends a week in the Colorado mountains with her, she falls in love with him & he does her [although he won't admit it], when he sends her home, she defends him to everyone, then becomes convinced he's actually guilty [misunderstandings and mix-ups]...I don't want to give away any more of the plot. Typical Judith McNaught. The characters are well developed although at times the plot drags but the ending is sweet. If you like McNaught's other novels, you'll love this one.

Convicted of murdering his wife, film director Zachary Benedict is driven to a desperate act. Escaping from prison, he has kidnapped Julie Mathison and spirited her away to a Colorado mountain hideout. For Benedict, it's a last-chance attempt to salvage his blown apart existence. And for Julie, it's a shattering schism in the orderly world she has fashioned from her rootless childhood. She never imagined she could be in such a terrifying position with a man as complex and unpredictable as Zachary Benedict.
As usual, Judith McNaught does not disappoint. This was definitely one of my favorites of hers and a good long read. :)

More than just another romance. This was a New York Times bestseller. It is well written. The author weaves a romantic tale through Hollywood, the Midwest and Colorado mountain estate. A lovely fantasy that is entertaining and a good read too. A perfect escape from realty for the days you just want to forget about everything and go to a happy place!

This is a sequal of sorts to "Paradise". Just as good, in my opinion.

I definitely will be reading more of this author's books.

One of my first romance novels, and I've read it over and over since. Sometimes I'll just pick it up and start in the middle, or the end, or wherever it suits me. Great story about justice, trust and love. You'll also enjoy Paradise, by the same author, which has some of the same characters.

This is one of my favorite Judith McNaught books. It is well written, and the characters really have chemistry.

Second in the series and not quite as good as Paradise (the first in the series). Still a great book though.
