The hero is
tall [check!]
dark [yep!]
handsome [you can't win 'em all!]
Very funny fantasy.

Although better known for his science fiction efforts, David Weber’s foray into fantasy with ‘Oath of Swords’ was highly entertaining, amusing, quickly paced, and flat out fun. The protagonists are interesting and interact well, with engaging dialog and quirky humor. The story has enough background to give it depth without sidetracking the central storyline and it was presented in such a way that the reader gets a good feel for the setting without tedious, long-winded info-dumps or monologs by the characters.
I really like this book. I’ve read it many times and recommend it to anyone who likes a fantasy story that has a solid central theme and keeps a sense of humor even while exploring darker elements of the setting.
