Book Description:
An Omnibus of Novels: Contains Book 1 and Book 2 of the series: Knight of Ghosts & Shadows, and Summoned to Tourney.

Eric Banyon is a talented musician whose lady has left him singing the blues in a deserted corner of the Renaissance Faire. He couldn't have known that the desperate sadness of his music would free Korendil, a young elven noble, from the magical prison he has been languishing in for centuries. Suddenly, Eric has no time to be sad, as he has to help Korendil fight against the evil elf lord who first imprisoned Korendil and now seeks to conquer all of California--and that is only the beginning.

Actually it's 2 books - Book 1 is Knight of Ghosts and Shadows, while Book 2 is Summoned to Tourney. This is Ms. Lackey using elves again but in an urban setting (and with plenty of music around naturally). Although I liked Knight well enough, I looked at it as more of a set up for the 2nd book. Of course, Summoned is set in San Francisco (which I visited in April 2005), so it held more of my interest. :-)

But I liked both books well enough that I'm considering buying the paperback at some point and keeping it my book collection.

A compilation of the first two books in the Bard series, "Knight of Ghosts and Shadows" and "Summoned to Tourney."

Elves in L.A.?? They've found Eric Banyon, a feckless itinerant musician plying his trade at the Southern California Renn Faire. And they think he can save their world.

After he does, indeed, save the world of the Southern California elves, Eric and his newly acquired family hotfoot it north to the Bay Area. This time he gets to save the whole Bay Area.

Eric Banyon, a flautist who plays Renaissance faires and other such venues, discovers that his music has the power to free a young elf from a magical prison. Lots of fun, good summer reading.

Really enjoyed this as I do all the Bardic Elves storys. This has a neer do well human freeing an elve. Some trips to their world, Underhill and plenty of magic. Mixing L.A. and Underhill makes for some interesting scenes. Not a great book but fits in with the others like it. Good reading.
