Book Description:
On a magical mission from the mysterious tree house near their home in Frog Creek, Pennsylvania, Jack and his sister Annie find themselves in the wilds of Australia during a drought. Things heat up pretty quickly for this adventuresome pair, as what initially appears to be a campfire turns into something a lot more frightening. Meanwhile, one exotic animal after another crosses their paths, from koalas to kookaburras to kangaroos. In previous episodes of the Magic Tree House series, Jack and Annie found three of the four gifts they must receive in order to free an enchanted dog from a spell. Now they must track down "a gift from a kangaroo." But can they find this gift before the forest--and all its furry and feathered residents--burns up?

Book 20 in the Magic Tree House series. This one is set in Australia and involves a forest fire. Independent reading level grade 2.1 per the publisher (on the back cover).

This wound up being our first experience with the MTH books. We received this on CD, and the rest is history.

My son is 6 and getting into loving to read. When we came across this book series a few months back I never imagined that two little storybook characters would have captivated his imagination in the manner that Jack & Annie have. He can't wait to get each subsequent book in the mail. He has to read it right away, before he plays after school. Because he has to see what adventure they are on next. We love that the stories follow where the last leaves off so that it really seems like the series is a journal about these two's life, not just another book.t just another book.

Wildfire! That's what Jack and Annie are up against when they are whisked away to the land of Australia. And they're not alone! Jack and Annie must help a baby kangaroo and a koala escape from a fire- filled forest. Will they be able to rescue the animals in time?
