Book Description:
An unidentified nude female sits propped against a fountain in Central Park. There are no signs of struggle. When Dr. Kay Scarpetta and her colleagues Benton Wesley and Pete Marino arrive on the scene, they instantly recognize the signature of serial killer Temple Brooks Gault. Scarpetta, on assignment with the FBI, visits the New York City morgue on Christmas morning, where she must use her forensic expertise to give a name to the nameless--a difficult task. But as she sorts through conflicting forensic clues, Gault claims his next victim. He has infiltrated the FBI's top secret artificial-intelligence system developed by Scarpetta's niece, and sends taunting messages as his butchery continues, moving terrifyingly closer to Scarpetta herself.

This book was great up until the end. The end was just absolute crap and sticks with the "formula" this author keeps using. She is continually killing off the bad guys with Scarpetta at the scene of the crime and it's just getting old. I mean really, how many times are serial killers just outright killed on the street instead of taken into custody? (And by a doctor no less?!?!) She tries to get all these facts into the books regarding forensics and crime and then makes an ending that is hurried and ridiculous. If the rest of the book weren't so well-written, I'd throw my hands up and quit reading this series. If the books continue to have such unoriginal endings, I probably will, because I expect authors to try some diversity in their storytelling instead of always having the villain killed by the heroine, who, in this story, is just a medical examiner. I mean really, how many M.E.s do we here about taking out bad guys like this one does? Good grief.

Patricia Cornwells Kay Scarpetta is a character who becomes addicting. Smart, Funny, brave, and tough she is a character who sticks with you, and you will find yourself wanting to read the whole series. Chapters are on the shorter side so the book is easier to digest.

A female medical examiner and her male colleague/lover sort through the forensic evidence from the baffling murder of an unknown woman. It becomes apparent that the killer wants his next victim to be the medical examiner herself.
