Book Description:
Few inspirational authors can put together a romance like Lori Wick, whose Bamboo and Lace is peopled with intriguing characters set against the two exotic backdrops. Shy, lovely Lily Walsh leaves her rural homeland, the tiny Asian country of Kashien, to visit her brother Jeff in Hawaii. Everything is new and exciting to Lily: grocery stores that overflow with food, chewing gum, coffee makers, and the luxury of hot showers. Most thrilling of all is Jeff's best friend, the handsome Hawaiian Gabriel Kapaia, who teaches her how to play tennis and golf, and encourages her to become more assertive. Despite her conservative father's disapproval, Lily falls in love with Gabe and must choose between pleasing a parent and following the tug of her heart. Although the book loses a little steam toward the end, Bamboo and Lace is a solid contribution to the Christian romance genre, and should win Wick some new readers and as well as satisfy her legion of fans.

Lily Walsh has never seen anything like America, or even imagined it. From supermarkets and swimsuits to the way women actually look men in the eye, she's baffled by this strange new land. Raised in a remote Asian village by her disciplinarian father, 24-year-old Lily is thrilled to visit her brother Jeff in Hawaii-until Jeff is called away on urgent business.
Left in the care of Jeff's best friend, Gabe Kapaia, and his family, Lily discovers the paradise of Oahu's north side at the Kapaia Resort. But she walks a fine line between two worlds. Can she embrace her new experiences without breaking her promise not to shame her missionary father? When Lily finds herself falling for Gabe, her heart is torn. Will her upbringing force her to make the difficult choice between true love and family honor?

This book is pretty long, but it is a great read. I've read it several times, and I walys enjoy it. It is the story of a young lady who comes from being a missionaries daughter in Kashien to live for 3 months in Hawaii.

My Mother said she definitely enjoyed this book. She said it was hard for her to put down and it was an easy read. "A very tender love story of how God changes the hearts of those who draw close to Him"
