I've loved all three Lincoln Rhyme books so far, but this 4th installment is by far the best. It's edge of your seat, true, but it is also filled with really real characters that are fully developed (you even know the bad guy's past and it's actually painful to read) and there is a bit more emotion. There are points that are truly heartbreaking, and also there is more humor in Stone Monkey.

Highly recommend not only for Deaver fans, but for all mystery/thriller fans.

Lincoln Rhyme must capture "the Ghost"...a killer in Chinatown..very ruthless. Rhyme's and his protege must find the next victims before the Ghost can silence them, but he seems to be one or two steps ahead of them at every turn. Very "fun" read.

I'm a seasoned suspense/mystery reader, and some of the twists in this book even caught me by surprise. This is a fast-moving page turner with excellent character development. The writing style brings you right into the setting and action. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Not my favorite JD book but it was still good. Took me awhile to get into it and it had the suspense, etc., of the other Lincoln Rhyme novels.

Forensics expert Lincoln Rhyme, along with his protegee, Amelia Sachs, has been recruited by the FBI to capture "the Ghost"--a homicidal immigrant smuggler. But, when they corner him aboard a cargo ship headed for New York, the bust goes disastrously wrong and the Ghost escapes. Now, he must eliminate the only witnesses to his crimes--two families who jumped ship and vanished in the Chinatown underground. Against a brilliant and ruthless adversary, Lincoln and Amelia race to find the families before the Ghost can silence them forever...Packed with shocking plot twists, breakneck pacing, and heartbreakingly real characters, "The Stone Monkey" reminds us once again why "People" hailed Jeffery Deaver as "the master of ticking-bomb suspense."
