Book Description:
Make an appointment for intrigue at Reyn Marten Sawyer's hair salon! Outrageous, flirtatious, and as colorful as a magenta mohawk, Reyn tracks twisted crimes, untangles tight knots, and never, ever leaves loose ends.

Someone clearly meant business when they targeted San Antonio's hair salon king, Ricardo, who was fatally stabbed with a one-of-a-kind weapon: a sharp plastic hair pick. Reyn had loaned Ricardo the tool -- and now she's not only mourning her friend and mentor's murder: she's also a suspect. And in the eyes of sexy detective Jackson Scythe, she's one alluring stylist who should drop her insistent sleuthing like a hot roller. But Reyn's wound a little too tight to stay out of the thick of things, including teasing and taming the stubbornly single Scythe while taking short cuts to catch a killer -- and uncovering the past of a dead man, whose secrets will make Reyn's hair curl....

First in a new series, Reyn Marten Sawyer's a feisty Stephanie Plum/Bubbles Yablonsky kind of girl. Here, her hair salon mentor is murdered and she must battle the sexy cop to find the murderer

Laura Bradley's cozy featuring stylist Reyn Martin Sawyer is a cut above. Reyn is intriguing, sassy and frequently in trouble. And with friends like Trudy, how can she go wrong? Easily identifiable killer but zanny characters make it a worthwhile read. 1st in the series.

Cute mystery about a hairstylist trying to solve the murder of her friend and mentor, Ricardo. When he calls in the middle of the night with a brush pick in his back and a cryptic message of "the proof is in the pudding" Reyn is dumbfounded but soon learns she is at the very top of the suspect list for murder. With a little help from her eccentric friend Trudy, a visit to an oddball psychic, sneaking into transvestite clubs, and plenty of gossip from the local salon patrons, Reyn finally uncovers the truth aboutr friends' dark and many secrets.

I do however agree with some of the other reviews about it being choppy at times, overall it was a good read, but there were some unanswered questions in the end, so i will be reading the next one to find out.

I had a hard time reading this book. There are many timeline issues that can lead a regular mystery reader to drink or book burning. The editor of this book should be ashamed of theirself for missing the glaringly obvious timeline errors. The storyline was OK in places and rushed everywhere else. Not to mention way too focused on the status of the main character's underwear. I will not be giving this author a second chance.
