Despite this being a fairly typical romance novel, with the ending recognizable from the onset, it was an enjoyable novel to read. The characters truly became real to me, and I cared about them. The story was interesting, and the descriptions of the food were great!

Although the basic premise of this book is similar to others by this author (main characters initally can't stand each other, but then fall in love) I found this book to be very entertaining and I am looking forward to reading the sequel.

Rese Barrett buys an old inn and plans to restore it herself. However, Lance Mitchell arrives at the inn as part of his exploration of his grandmother's past. He talks his way into getting hired as the chef and fixit man. Both people have tragedy in their past and work together to find all the pieces to the puzzle. Lance is able to use his faith to bring Rese to a peaceful place about her past.

A pretty good mystery. Sometimes it was slow reading, but all in all okay.

I really liked this book. The hero was a hottie, and I liked the fact that neither of the main characters were "perfect" (a common problem in Christian fiction) but each had baggage to work through. Heitzmann's books are always a good read, so all I can say is this one was no exception. I liked the twist of mystery in it, too.
A different kind of story, but with a good message included.
